Bob Graf
Born:
Bob Graf (April 16, 1927 – August 27, 1981) was a St. Louis tenor saxophonist whose career placed him alongside some of the most celebrated names in jazz. Recommended to Count Basie by trumpeter Clark Terry, Graf performed in Basie's small group before joining Woody Herman's Third Herd, recording for both Capitol and MGM. He was a member of Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse All Stars, appeared on Chet Baker's Pacific Jazz recordings in 1956, and played with Gerry Mulligan's big band in the 1960s.
His most significant recorded document is At Westminster (Delmark Records), captured live in St. Louis on January 11, 1958 — reissued on CD in 1992 as part of Delmark's Underground Heroes series and still available today. In December 1959 he performed alongside guitarist Grant Green and organist Sam Lazar at the Holy Barbarian in St. Louis. In 1958 he appeared as a performing musician on the Universal Pictures film The Big Beat.

Arthur Edmaiston grew up in a very small town in NW TN and moved to Memphis to study music and learn from elders who still roamed the streets and recording studios of that famous music mecca. After spending a few years playing Blues, Soul, Rock-n-Roll and R&B on Beale Street and in various clubs around town, Edmaiston got on the tour bus in the late 90's with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Vocalist Bobby "Blue" Bland which began a 20-plus year ride across the globe.

Davide Sgarra
Born:
Davide Sgarra is an Italian jazz clarinetist and saxophonist based in Brooklyn, New York. Born in Varese in 2000, he began performing publicly as a teenager in the Lombardy region, winning first place at national music competitions before pursuing conservatory studies at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague in the Netherlands and a Master of Music degree at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.
Since arriving in the United States, Sgarra has become a sought-after presence on the New York jazz scene, performing with David Ostwald's Louis Armstrong Eternity Band at Birdland Jazz Club, Terry Waldo's Gotham City Band at Arthur's Tavern, and Gordon Webster's ensemble at swing festivals across North America. He has appeared at Dizzy's Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Perelman Performing Arts Center, and on four U.S. national tours with the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra. In Europe, he performed as a featured soloist with the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, alongside pianist Rob van Bavel at the Hague Marriott Hotel, and toured internationally with the Roaring Cats Jazz Band across the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, and Romania.

Alex Coke

Alex Coke is a Texas tenor saxophonist, flutist, and composer based in Austin, Texas and Amsterdam, Netherlands.
An improvisor at heart, his multifarious projects as bandleader include Live Action Brass Band, Leadbelly Legacy Band, New Texas Swing, a jazz adaptation of Dylan Thomas' A Child's Christmas In Wales, and the post-bop quintet, Worthy Constituents, a collaboration with longtime partner, pianist, and composer, Rich Harney.
In 2022, along with guitarist Carl Michel, Coke began writing for, performing and recording with the Alex Coke & Carl Michel Sextet, an outgrowth of a series of driveway concerts he and harpist Elaine Barber began hosting in 2020. The sextet has recorded 3 albums to date on the PlayOn records label The Emissary, Emergence and Situation.

A former faculty member at Northwestern University, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and Midwest Young Artists, he currently coordinates the jazz program at Loyola University Chicago. He is a sought-after jazz clinician, adjudicating at jazz festivals and offering workshops to ensembles of all ages and levels from across the globe. He is a Vandoren and Conn-Selmer Performing Artist, member of the Fulbright Specialist Program roster, Jazz Education Network, the National Educator’s Association, and the National Association for Music Education. Madsen has also contributed jazz articles to The Instrumentalist magazine and been interviewed on several radio broadcasts about jazz history and his performing career.

The Cafe Society
In the 1940s, there was one integrated jazz club in New York City where all the greats played: Café Society in the West Village.
Today, The Café Society is a jazz quintet led by tenor saxophonist Justin Flynn (Nancy Wilson, Randy Brecker) and vocalist Emily Wade Adams. Their NYC-based ensemble collaborates with the city's finest jazz musicians to deliver swinging standards with sophistication and soul.

Adam Chmaj
