About Me

Terence Collie is a London-based pianist, composer and bandleader, and a recipient of the MOBO Amplified Award. His work is rooted in contemporary jazz, combining strong melodic writing with a focus on interplay, groove and improvisation. Performing in formats ranging from piano trio to larger ensembles, his music balances structure with spontaneity and a clear, personal voice. He has appeared at leading UK venues and festivals including PizzaExpress Jazz Club, Cadogan Hall, the EFG London Jazz Festival and the Brecon Jazz Festival. His performances are characterised by tight ensemble playing, dynamic contrast and a strong connection with audiences. Collie works regularly with a close-knit group of collaborators including double bassist Nick Lenner-Webster and drummer Ted Carrasco, alongside projects featuring the London String Group Trio. Together, these collaborations form the core of his recorded and live work. His latest project, DNA, explores identity and ancestry, drawing on his Seychellois heritage and personal family history, expressed through a contemporary jazz lens with an emphasis on narrative and expressive depth. His work has received strong critical recognition, with Jazz in Europe describing it as “Stunning…Terence Collie is an artist whose work deserves to be celebrated,” while Jason Rebello praised his playing as “Great feel, nice lines… and really exciting.” Alongside performing, Collie is an experienced educator, teaching piano, improvisation and music theory to students of all levels. He continues to develop a distinctive voice within the UK jazz scene, grounded in strong musicianship and an evolving compositional approach.
