Musician

Tyler Bullock

Tyler Bullock II is a New York-based pianist, composer, and arranger making his way into the city’s musical landscape while studying at the Juilliard School.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Tyler began playing piano at age five and the cello at ten, winning awards in both instruments. He studied classically as he also absorbed the language of Black American roots and soul music.

He was introduced to jazz music in middle school and found that improvisation came naturally to him. When he heard John Coltrane’s Love Supreme, he was enraptured and spiritually engaged. The swing, solace, and lyrical flow of that recording challenged and confirmed his direction; he would step outside the musical bounds of his generation to pursue the distinct yet limitless tradition of improvisation.
