Sue Foley: Ten Days in November
Guitarist, singer and songwriter Sue Foley actually transcends the blues with these 11 self-penned tunes, incorporating elements of rock and folk. At least one critic has called Foley a female Bob Dylan, and the characterization is not entirely off the mark. Though not as nasal a singer as Dylan, Foley also possesses a limited vocal range. However, she uses her voice to great advantage here. Her lyrics grow more heartfelt and poetic with each release, and her guitar playing remains powerfully bluesy. Ten Days In November is an honest, ground-breaking release from a developing young artist. This one should satisfy Foley's core blues followers and attract the attention of rock and folk fans, too.
