Diana Torti
Jazz singer, improviser and composer.
Internationally acclaimed vocalist Diana Torti, brings her breathtaking virtuosity to the forefront of her artistry, presenting music that is bold, beautiful and fearless. A visionary vocalist and improviser, Torti pushes boundaries through blending the evocative atmospheres of ancient music with the soulful nuances of her Mediterranean roots creating a deeply immersive sonic experience.
With a sound that is so versatile and intoxicating, ‘Diana's music is enveloping, taking you to new dimensions, making you lose yourself in floating and impalpable sounds, only to then find you again in the words’ (Giacomo Pisani), she has captivated audiences across the world at intimate jazz clubs and prestigious international stages. Exploring improvisation as a pure expressive force, blending her classical roots with avant-garde intensity, Torti is a masterclass in vocal versatility.
Torti’s ‘enthralling voice and phenomenal technique’ (Jazz Views) has been compared to Jeanne Lee, Norma Winstone and even Joni Mitchell, highlighting her skilful navigation of sounds, using her voice as a living, evolving instrument. With nine albums already to her name, collaborating with artists across the globe including Ennio Morricone, Luca Francesconi, Ensemble Micrologus, and Sabino de Bari, 2026 sees the release of Torti’s second album as the lead artist and is aptly named ‘Fearless’.
She has collaborated on the following recording projects: “It’s All We Have” (2023) in duo with Sabino de Bari, “Lo racconta il mare” by Sabino de Bari (2022), "Live at Acuto Jazz" (2017) and "Maintenant" (2015) by Lucia Ianniello, "Voices" by Sabino de Bari (2012), "Più Nove" (2009), by Angelo Schiavi, "Hospitale dè Pazzi Incurabili" by Fabrizio Cardosa (2004), “Il 13” (1994) by Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso.
Her music project as leader "On a Cloud", is a tribute to the art of Jeanne Lee, a jazz singer of rare elegance. The CD has been released in January 2019 for the English label SLAM Productions and it was mentioned among the best vocal jazz albums of 2019 by The New York City Jazz Record and Jazz Views.
She was invited to present her own research about voice and identity within the conference “Sound is sensitive expression of thought” organized by Ipazia ImmaginePensiero for 'Psyche and art' series. Her speech “The different voice” has been recently published.
She's been living in London for some years, where she continues her activity as a singer, vocal researcher and singing teacher.
