Annaliesa Rose – Singer, Musician, Composer

Annaliesa Rose (BMus (jazz) (ANU), GradDipEd (UNE), MAM (MBA equiv)(Australian Institute of Music)) is a versatile musician (vocalist) and composer who has been involved in music and the performing arts her whole life from music, drama, dance and visual arts.

Since 1999, Annaliesa has been performing around Australia especially in Canberra and where she is from in Wollongong and more recently performing internationally in Czech Republic and the UK.

Notable performances overseas include 2025 gig at Jazz Dock with Emil Viklický, Andy Schofield, Tomáš Hobzek, Josef Fečo, Edinburgh Jazz ‘n’ Jive gigs in 2025 and back in 2024, completing a full run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2024 where she worked at various gigs with Daryl Wallis, David Patrick, Daniel Bulatkin and Emil Viklický, working with Emil Viklický at Františkovy Lázně and with Emil Viklický, Petr Dvorský, Tomáš Hobzek at a venue in Brno and on my latest album and singles along with Andy Schofield (to be released later this year).

Notable performances in Australia include (just to name a few) many performances with my musicians here including Daryl Wallis, Sam Mudie, John Burgess, Guy Vaughn-Smith, Trevor Kettlewell, Matt Lustri, Simon Fishburn (lives in USA), ConneXion Big Band, In Full Swing Big Band, Wests Illawarra, The Basement of the Illawarra Builders Club, The Illawarra Jazz Club, The Foundry616 jazz bar in Ultimo, Molly Bar, and Albert Hall in Canberra, National Gallery of Australia, The Canberra Wine House, The National Press Club, Lerida Winery, The Harmony German Club, Sally Greenaway, the ANU Commercial Ensemble including Wangaratta Jazz and Blues Festival, Sydney Cabaret Convention in 2002, performed as part of the Millennium Marching Band during the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2000 Olympic Games along with many clubs and jazz festivals and also performances that are outside of the jazz world in classical, pop/contemporary styles.

These performances and her behind the scenes work managing her career showcase her versatility and experience on a global stage and with her debut album available on all streaming platforms, as well as digital and CD formats Annaliesa is looking forward to sharing her new singles, album and other projects with her audience and online followers.

Annaliesa's voice fills The Speakeasy like a true Lady of Jazz, creating deep longing for the tunes that inhabit us and that she thunders out with agency, sometimes smooth as a kitten, others luminous with joy. The modulations come all at the right moments and her interpretations are both intelligent, pertinent and admirable. Keep on singing, Woman! The artists – jazz singer and composer Annaliesa Rose, bass player John Burgess and pianist Daryl Wallis – wrote independently of each other but joined forces to perform the pieces together as a tight, well musically disciplined trio.....“You Are the Devil [That] I Know” came to her at 1:30 one morning resulting in no sleep until the music and lyrics were completely written. A strong bass produced a bounce to lyrics about men known to her during her life and some of their traits. There was a certain European lilt to the music – a catchy treatment of a tune with similarities to the folk music of that region... Home Is, a pretty and melodic ballad describing home as the place where one feels whole, then a homage to Charlie Parker – no message here, just a cute little bossa nova about Little Red Shoes...
