Nate Petersen
About Me
My Jazz Story
Nate Petersen is a professional bass trombonist
from Florida. He received his Bachelor’s degree in
Trombone Performance from the University of
South Florida and his Master’s degree in
Trombone Performance from the University of
Cincinnati College – Conservatory of Music. Nate
recently toured across the United States with Tim
Zimmerman and the King’s Brass, performing
over one hundred concerts in their 2024-2025
season. He is currently a member of the
Sokolowski Trombone Project, winners of the
2023 Kai Winding Jazz Trombone Ensemble
competition. He has been recorded on multiple
big band projects, such as the Ross Strauser Jazz
Orchestra’s debut big band album, Endless Ties,
and is also a member of The Florida Man Big
Band, which recently began performing/recording
in Orlando, FL. Nate continues to play classical
and jazz trombone across the state of Florida, in
addition to teaching private lessons and
composing/recording original trombone music.
