About the Album

Rarely has a band name been as apt as Convergence. The Denver jazz supergroup, which is celebrating 30 years of boldly making modern jazz of the highest caliber, features a full roster of veteran Rocky Mountain jazz greats who both play and compose: Eric Gunnison (piano), his fellow Colorado Music Hall of Fame inductee Greg Gisbert (trumpet and flugelhorn), John Gunther (saxophones), Mark Patterson (trombone), Mark Simon (bass), and Paul Romaine (drums). Their latest “Reckless Meter” was recorded live at the revered Mighty Fine Productions studio, giving the record an immediate and vibrant feeling. “It’s One or Not One,” a catchy Romaine composition, has a timeless but fresh feel propelled by some interplay between Gunnison, Simon, and Romaine. Gisbert and Patterson add sparkling solos before Romaine switches from brushes to sticks for an exciting and memorable conclusion.
