Album Description

"Virtuosic pianist-composer Ronn Yedidia unveils PROPHETS, the long-anticipated debut recording from his boundary-defying jazz quartet of the same name...more than four decades after the ensemble first formed. Originally conceived in 1984 and evolving through several generations of world-class players, PROPHETS fuses jazz, fusion, and contemporary classical language into a powerful sonic experience. The album is a masterclass in Third Stream composition and performance. The album’s nine original tracks are sweeping, virtuosic, and meticulously composed—yet bursting with improvisational fire. From the driving odd meters of “Landscapes” to the funk-fueled grooves of “Funking”and the haunting lyricism of “If Ever,” Yedidia’s writing is as dynamic as it is emotionally resonant. The sound recalls the fearless creativity of Weather Report and Miles Davis, while forging a language all its own.Yedidia, best known for his international work in classical composition and recordings on labels like EMI, Sony BMG, and Naxos, brings the same depth and precision to PROPHETS. The result is not just an album—it’s a revelation decades in the making."
