Dalia Valančiūtė releases new album One Or Two Things on 29 May 2026
Lithuanian-born, Copenhagen-based jazz vocalist Dalia Valančiūtė presents her second
studio album: a warm, story-led collection of standards, hidden gems and one Lithuanian
song, recorded with her long-time quartet and guest horns.
Copenhagen-based jazz vocalist Dalia Valančiūtė releases her new album One Or Two Things on 29 May 2026.
The album is Valančiūtė’s second studio release, following her debut Open the Door in 2023. While her first album introduced her lyrical phrasing and intimate approach to song, One Or Two Things reveals a brighter, more rhythmically alive and personal side of her musical world. Recorded in Copenhagen with her working quartet, the album brings together jazz standards, ballads, more groove-based material and one song in Lithuanian. For Valančiūtė, the record
feels like a clearer portrait of who she is as a singer: the songs she is drawn to, the stories she wants to tell, and the balance of tenderness, playfulness and forward motion that defines her sound.
“This album feels like a snapshot of who I am right now: rooted in jazz, but open,
energetic and playful. It is about the songs I love, the way we play together as a
band, and the small personal threads that connect where I come from with where I
make music today.”

A Copenhagen band with a shared language
One Or Two Things was recorded with Valančiūtė’s long-time Copenhagen quartet: Laurits Høgel on piano, Mariusz Praśniewski on bass and Jesper Lørup on drums. The album also features guest musicians Christian Holm-Svendsen on saxophone and flute, and Malthe Kaptain on trumpet. The musicians have played together for several years, and the album captures the ease, trust and musical conversation that comes from a real working band. Rather than treating the
standards as museum pieces, the quartet reshapes them with clarity, rhythmic freshness and a strong sense of storytelling.
Valančiūtė has been active on the Copenhagen jazz scene for several years, performing locally and recently receiving airplay on Danish national radio. During her years in Copenhagen, she also collaborated with Lithuanian saxophonist Donatas Petreikis, who appeared on her debut album Open the Door.
Standards, stories and a Lithuanian thread
The repertoire on One Or Two Things moves between classic jazz material, lesser-known songs and more groove-oriented arrangements. The album includes singles “On A Clear Day”, “Oh! Look At Me Now” and “Maybe You’ll Be There”, released ahead of the album. A personal highlight is the inclusion of one song in Lithuanian, “Vėjas Man Pasakė”. For Valančiūtė, the song creates a small but important link between her Lithuanian roots and her current musical life in Copenhagen. It also gives the album a deeper personal dimension, opening a door to listeners in Lithuania as well as international jazz audiences.
Musically, Valančiūtė draws inspiration from singers such as Irene Kral, Blossom Dearie and Betty Carter, while shaping the material through her own sound: intimate, clear, rhythmically alert and grounded in the emotional truth of the song.
