Missouri-born musician Todd Mosby and Mosby Music Group announce American Heartland, a 12-track collection that unites contemporary jazz and folk, New Age, solo acoustic guitar, blues and jazz-rock to capture the soul of his home state. Recorded primarily at The Village Studios and mastered at Bernie Grundman Studios, American Heartland is available for streaming, downloads, and as an 8-panel CD with a 16-page booklet with poetry, images, lyrics and stories about the music.
Few people know the rich and diverse musical heritage of Missouri. Bluegrass flows from the Ozark Mountains. Blues drifts in along the Mississippi River. Rock ‘n’ roll is part of the state’s DNA—after all, Missouri is the birthplace of Chuck Berry, the “Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll.” Jazz legends like Charlie Parker, Lester Young, and Pat Metheny are native sons. The “Show-Me State” has a lot to say for its musical legacy.
American Heartland is a culmination of St. Louis-based Mosby’s journey, thus far. The 11-track collection traverses contemporary jazz, New Age, contemporary folk, blues, solo acoustic guitar, and jazz-rock. Compositions feature lush orchestration, sultry female vocalise, driving horn sections, stately strings, and scene-setting minimalistic lyrics.
The soul of Missouri is evoked in the music of the rolling hills, the golden fields, the star-filled skies, the lush greens, the sound of distant thunder storms, and the breathtaking sunrise over the Ozarks.
Todd Mosby and select team members are available for commentary during the album promotional window.
