Bob Graf

Born:

Bob Graf (April 16, 1927 – August 27, 1981) was a St. Louis tenor saxophonist whose career placed him alongside some of the most celebrated names in jazz. Recommended to Count Basie by trumpeter Clark Terry, Graf performed in Basie's small group before joining Woody Herman's Third Herd, recording for both Capitol and MGM. He was a member of Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse All Stars, appeared on Chet Baker's Pacific Jazz recordings in 1956, and played with Gerry Mulligan's big band in the 1960s.

His most significant recorded document is At Westminster (Delmark Records), captured live in St. Louis on January 11, 1958 — reissued on CD in 1992 as part of Delmark's Underground Heroes series and still available today. In December 1959 he performed alongside guitarist Grant Green and organist Sam Lazar at the Holy Barbarian in St. Louis. In 1958 he appeared as a performing musician on the Universal Pictures film The Big Beat.

Jim Holman

Jim Holman is a pianist/composer/educator rooted in Chicago who has performed with Eric Alexander, {{m: Paul Wertico = 13447}}, Ira Sullivan, Ari Brown, Claudio Roditi, Jimmy Chamberlin (drummer for the smashing Pumpkins), Frank Catalano, Roger Humphries, Cecil Bridgewater, Yotam Silberstein, Donald Harrison, John Moulder, Abe Laboriel, Dennis Carroll, Clark Sommers, Richie Cole and Dana Hall and many more.

Holman’s upcoming album features New York tenor legend, Eric Alexander, along with Clark Sommers, and Tim Davis. His discography also includes two albums on the Delmark lable: “Blues Skies” feat. Ira Sullivan and Roger Humphries, and “Explosion” feat. Richie Cole and Frank Catalano. His most recent release, “Faith,” features alto powerhouse Greg Ward II and Barrett Harmon, and showcases Holman’s compositional perspective.

Dave Specter has earned an international reputation as one of the premier talents on the Chicago music scene. Since 1985 Specter has performed regularly at top venues and festivals throughout the USA and has toured internationally in 19 countries.

Before forming his own band in 1989, Specter toured extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe behind such blues greats as Son Seals, The Legendary Blues Band, Hubert Sumlin, Sam Lay and Steve Freund. Specter has also performed and/or recorded with such artists as Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, Otis Rush, Jimmy Rogers, Robert Jr. Lockwood, Jimmy Johnson, Jack McDuff, Johnny Adams, Snooky Pryor, Kim Wilson, Tad Robinson, John Primer, Johnny Littlejohn, B.B. Odom, Mighty Joe Young, Magic Slim, Lonnie Brooks, Ronnie Earl, Otis Clay, Floyd McDaniel, Pinetop Perkins and Jorma Kaukonen from Hot Tuna and Jefferson Airplane.
