Gary Bartz: Damage Control

Read "Damage Control" reviewed by Marco Iacoboni

"Ntu" in lingua bantu significa unità in ogni cosa. Jazz Fusion Trio Covers The Police

Featuring the music of Cory Henry
Duration: 22:44

Pull up a comfy chair. This week, AAJ Video’s give you a front-row seat to three masters of modern jazz experimentation. No charts, just the live creativity of Cory Henry on keys, Hadrien Feraud on bass, and Ronald Bruner Jr. on drums. Henry made his name with Snarky Puppy; Feraud was cited by John McLaughlin as the next Jaco Pastorius; and Bruner played with Stanley Clarke. Here, they are challenged to deconstruct "King of Pain" by The Police and rebuild it on the fly. The full track is 22 minutes, but it’s well-worth setting aside the time to appreciate how they create a new, funky feel -- section-by-section, groove-by-groove.
