Works For Me

Posi-Tone debuts their latest musical collective under the apt band name of Works For Me. This carefully curated presentation by Producer Marc Free focuses on combining the individual talents of several emerging performers into a cohesive camaraderie that succeeds in providing us with a series of enjoyably emotional performances of clarity and sincerity. The album is titled ”Reach Within” and the band consists of the following group of talented musicians.

Alexa Tarantino - She’s a jazz saxophonist/flutist that’s really taken off on the scene. Tarantino regularly leads her own band and performs as a side-musician in a wide variety of ensembles and genres including Sherrie Maricle & the DIVA Jazz Orchestra, Arturo O’Farrill & The Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, Cécile McLorin Salvant’s OGRESSE, and LSAT (her co-led band with Lauren Sevian). She has appeared on recordings for Lauren Sevian, The DIVA Jazz Orchestra, Something Blue, and Lioness. She also enjoys being an instrumentalist in the East Coast musical theater scene. Tarantino is currently on faculty for Jazz at Lincoln Center's Youth Education Programs and directs one of their High School Jazz Academy big bands. She is also the Founder and Director of the Rockport Jazz Workshop (MA).

Tony Davis - Guitarist Tony Davis has been surrounded by the sounds of a myriad of musical genres his entire life. The son and first child of internationally renowned trombonist, composer and educator Steve Davis and critically acclaimed pianist, composer and educator Mary DiPaola, Tony was presented with the recipe for artistic success from day one. He attended The Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz (Hartford, CT) and then relocated to New York City, where he is currently studying with such contemporary masters as Peter Bernstein, Paul Bollenback, and Steve Wilson.  With his debut album set for release in 2020, Davis is poised to be a bright name in the jazz scene for years to come.

Caili O’Doherty - After graduating from Berklee College of Music and Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, O’Doherty has been climbing the ranks of great New York jazz pianist. O’Doherty’s debut album Padme was released 2015, and she has another album ready for 2020. Currently performing throughout New York City and touring as a bandleader and side-musician, O’Doherty also works in the education department at Jazz at Lincoln Center for the WeBop early childhood jazz education program, and their Jazz for Young People program. O’Doherty has been a faculty member at the Stanford Jazz Workshop since 2012 and Litchfield Jazz Camp since 2015.
