Tony Lepore
Tony Lepore is a New York-based composer, drummer, playwright, and theatre artist who has spent twenty-five years creating work internationally as a lighting designer, sound designer, and producer. He began his theatre career on the Lower East Side. He scored films. He grew up learning jazz guitar from his grandfather, who played in Harlem during the Swing Era. On Unannounced — his debut as a bandleader — Lepore leads a quintet featuring David Ambrosio, Dave Scott, Adam Kolker, and Benjamin Barantschik through six original compositions rooted in the hard bop and post-bop tradition. The album was recorded at Atomic Sound in Brooklyn during the Great Blizzard of February 2026 and mastered by Joe Lambert Mastering. Cover art is by Kara Silvestri, for whom Lepore composed the score to the 2019 short film “Lipstick Ladies,” executive produced by Bob Giraldi. In his own words: he is trying to get at one moment of emotional truth.
