Serge Rogalski
Serge Rogalski is a Paris-based guitarist and composer whose work explores the meeting point of contemporary jazz, improvisation and composed music. Working primarily with his trio featuring Gaël Petrina and Sam Ospovat, he has developed an approach marked by fragmented forms, textural detail and a constant interplay between structure and volatility.
His music resists easy categorization. It draws on the tension of modern jazz, the openness of experimental practice and a distinctly visual sense of form, often unfolding in ways that feel both precise and unstable. Rather than relying on conventional development, Rogalski’s pieces tend to move through shifts of density, pressure and color.
Recent work has taken shape as a series of filmed studio sessions and EP releases, conceived not as isolated objects but as parts of a wider artistic continuum. The result is a body of music that is rigorous yet restless, rooted in ensemble interplay while remaining open to transformation.
