Sara Filipova
Sara Filipova’s music is deeply rooted in her diverse background in R&B, pop, jazz, and classical music, yet it is inspired by the spirit of groundbreaking singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchell and Paul Simon. In this fluid space between genres, Sara finds her voice—joining a new generation of artists who explore, expand, and redefine musical boundaries.
She has performed on stages across Europe and the U.S., including Chicago’s Wilson Abbey Theatre, and released her debut EP Black and White Café on Bulgarian national TV in 2019. A live radio session for Ö1’s Kunstonntag followed in 2020, along with radio play for her single Alone Together on FM4 and Ö1.
From 2020 to 2023, Sara curated 0816 Acoustic, a concert series that quickly became a staple in Vienna’s singer-songwriter scene. In 2024 & 2025 she appeared with Wayne Horvitz’s Electric Circus, co-founded the sample free jazz duo Fudge Summer with drummer Max Plattner, and collaborated with the Koehne Quartet on a concept by Karl Ritter, merging her compositions with their repertoire. In 2026 the duo Fudge Summer released their first EP "live at Hin & Weg". Sara Filipova is currently working on the new album "Merge" with Koehne Quartet.

"Vienna has found a powerful new voice in pianist and singer Sara Filipova. Her songs, sung in English and combining a singer-songwriterly aspect with a pop sensibility, are refreshingly direct and compact. Schmalz and sentimentality aren’t her thing; the songs get right to the point. Her energy is infectious [...]and leaves the listener wanting just one more song." (Austrian Radio ö1 - Helmut Jasbar)
