Ryan Mackenzie
Ryan MacKenzie’s commitment to versatility makes him one of the UK’s most in-demand freelance musicians. A graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, he has composed and arranged for some of the UK’s top ensembles, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
Born near Aberdeen, Ryan studied piano at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland before moving to London, where he has established himself as an in-demand arranger, musical director and pianist for stage. Recent composition and arranging projects include Terry Gilliam’s revival of Into the Woods, work with EFG London Jazz Festival (Spotlight on Female Songwriters), Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (Time Flies: 100 Years of the RAF), BBC Symphony Orchestra (Children in Need) and RSNO (Celtic Connections). Ryan has also arranged for and accompanied many of the world’s most popular vocalists, including Pixie Lott, Carrie Hope Fletcher, Alan Cumming, Donna McKechnie, and Christina Bianco.
Piano and Music Director credits include the international tours of Les Miserables, West Side Story and Mary Poppins, the UK Tour and Savoy Theatre run of Guys and Dolls, and a workshop of Starlight Express with Andrew Lloyd Webber and Arlene Phillips.
