Alexander Flood
Alexander Flood is one of Australia’s commanding beat-masters, possessing a finessed arsenal of groove, power, and expertise on the drums and as a bandleader. His unique sound and approach on the instrument has been crafted through many years of study and dedication to music from every corner of the globe.
Leading his band from the drum chair, Alex’s music pushes a fresh rhythmic and dynamic realm of live dance music dubbed “nu-jazz”, “jazztronica” and “jazz house music”. Flood’s music draws on influences from house, UK garage, drum n’ bass, and broken beat and flips it on its head with a live band and jazzy edge.
Since 2024 Alex’s band has been touring extensively across Europe, UK, India, New Zealand, and Australia each year, working alongside Emerged Agency, Niche Agency, and Saras Co. The band has featured on notable stages including Montreux Jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival, Ronnie Scott’s, Brick Lane Jazz Festival, Wellington Jazz Festival, Melbourne Jazz Festival, Fasching Stockholm, NMACC Mumbai, and WOMADelaide.
Flood’s recent momentum led him to join forces with Atjazz Record Company (headed by none other than the notable UK DJ Atjazz), to release his highly acclaimed and bold sounding 4th studio album ARTIFACTUAL RHYTHM in 2025. Alex has also previously worked with Stretch Music, Jakarta Records, and Sidekick Music to release his music.
Some notable collaborators of Alex’s include Chief Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Moses Yoofee, Yoni Mayraz, Àbáse, Horatio Luna, Vivian Sessoms, Cazeaux O.S.L.O.
