About Me

Born in 1988, Yuriy is a bright representative of Ukrainian jazz scene. He studied in Berlin Jazz Institute (2014-2015), then was active as leader, side-man, film-composer in Kyiv, Ukraine (2017-2021), paralelly teaching in Lviv National Music Academy. Yuriy currently resides in Berlin and active as leader and sideman. He's solo album “Beauty Untamed” that was out on 26.01.26 is serving as a donation stimulus for Ptahy - medical foundation in Ukraine. 100% of earnings are sent to the needs of the foundation. Yuriy played and recorded with Ben van Gelder, Nasheet Waits, Satoko Fuji, Igor Osypov, Dima Bondarev.

My Jazz Story

I love jazz because it's the purest form of expression for me. I was first exposed to jazz listening to some Czech dixieland when I was around 8 I met Lee Konitz and that concert changed my life as I decided to be a jazz musician The best show I ever attended was probably Sullivan Fortner's solo concert The first jazz record I bought was Louis Armstrong best hits My advice to new listeners - if you listen to the record and don't like it, give it 6 month and try to listen to it again. You might change your mind.
