Ryoji Ray Daike
New York-based jazz guitarist specializing in Bebop and Wes Montgomery-style thumb-picking
About Me
Ray Daike is a New York-based jazz guitarist and educator recognized for his mastery of the Bebop tradition and his authentic thumb-picking technique. A graduate of Showa Music University, Ray built a solid professional foundation in Japan. He notably refined his craft under the mentorship of the legendary Japanese jazz guitarist Yoshiaki Miyanoue, solidifying his commitment to the language of Bebop before moving to New York to further evolve his sound. Since relocating, Ray has become a devoted student of the modern virtuoso Pasquale Grasso, refining a sophisticated piano-style approach to the guitar while applying the harmonic theories of Barry Harris. His artistic journey reached a significant milestone in January 2026 with the release of his debut trio album, Ray Daike I, featuring the legendary bassist Ron McClure and drummer Andrew Pastorino. Recognized by major Japanese publications like 'Jaz.in' and 'The Walker’s,' Ray is committed to preserving the essence of Bebop while bringing a fresh, modern perspective to the international jazz scene.

My Jazz Story
My House Concert Story
I have had the privilege of performing in a wide variety of intimate and meaningful settings, from nursing homes and senior living communities to private wedding ceremonies and even surprise marriage proposals. Whether it's playing for an audience that grew up with the sounds of the Great American Songbook or creating the perfect atmosphere for a couple's most important life milestone, I believe that music has a unique power to heal and connect people. I bring the same level of passion and professionalism to a private home as I do to a major jazz club. My goal is always to create an unforgettable experience that resonates with each individual in the room. I am excited to continue sharing the beauty of Bebop and standard jazz in these special, personal settings.
