About Me
Check the website for more information and upcoming tour dates!
I grew up in Billings, MT as the youngest son of a band director and did the school band thing.
Although I preferred football to band, turns out short, slow country boys who can't catch don't get to
play college football. So I enlisted in the Marines. They found out I played sax and sent me to the
Armed Forces School of Music and I landed at Marine Field Band in 29 Palms, CA. While I can't say it
was all fun and games; I can say I played over 400 shows a year and learned a lot of other things that
served my very well in my music career.
I did one tour and moved to Portland, OR and studied music at a small college. I started my first
real band, Miles Ahead, which lasted 8 years. We worked all over Portland and toured in Oregon,
Washington, Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado.
I went solo as it were with my next band, The Noah Peterson Quartet, and released my first solo
album in January 2004. The Noah Peterson Quartet Live at Biddy McGraw's went on to extensive
airplay throughout the U.S. and limited airplay throughout the world as well as being A Downbeat
Featured CD.
In the following years I've played and recorded in jazz, blues, zydeco, folk, funk, gospel, experimental,
Avant Garde, African, reggae, spoken word, and rock bands playing as a sideman, band leader, and
section leader.
I still compose, arrange, and produce records. I've had many musical projects and still have all sorts
of adventures. I have a larger and growing catalog of original music under my own name, and in
collaboration with others. I plunged deep into music technology, specifically loop stations, and
toured my Solo Sax Sessions show across the U.S. for 6 years. I currently live
in San Antonio, TX and play a lot of jazz, I have a couple of recording projects and get hired for some
specialty work here and there. I have several albums that have been produced through grants and
artist patronage.
My records still pop up on the airwaves and I'm writing, recording, and producing. I actively release
music and videos: follow me on Youtube, Apple Music, Deezer, Spotify or wherever you go from
streaming content for all kinds of musical fun.
