I love jazz because it is experimental. Musicians are open to improvise (in most cases). One of my favorite jazz CDs is Jane Monheit's "Come Dream With Me," because it has "Waters of March." Few vocalists can pull that off. I prefer vocal jazz because I'm all about lyrics, but I appreciate any fine jazz musician. Recently, I saw Jon Batiste and the Stay Human Band at Mesa Arts Center. Wow! John Clayton is an artist-in-residence this season at Mesa Arts Center, with a concert coming up with The Clayton Brothers Quintet December 17, 2013, and then his Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra on March 7, 2014.
