About Me
Jacqueline Tabor, also known as the “Seattle Chanteuse,” has a sultry alto voice that contains style, passion, and sophistication. expressive, memorable approach to music enchants audiences with powerful tones and dynamic style. The Northwest vocalist discovered jazz as a kid, watching old movies on TV. She dug the black-and-white films noir that featured beautiful women in gowns singing jazz in dark, smoky nightclubs—she wanted to grow up to do that. Tabor’s performances capture emotional depth and authenticity while drawing inspiration from artists such as Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, and Sarah Vaughn. Additionally, she has been a guest artist for the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra since 2019. She is a Board Member of KNKX and the North City Jazz Walk, where she uses her strong commitment to social justice to advocate for equity in the arts.
Tabor is an award-winning vocalist who pursues Jazz, Blues, and Swing, and was recently inducted into the Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame by Earshot this past March. She has claimed the prestigious Earshot Jazz Vocalist of the Year award on four occasions and has been honored with the Seattle-Kobe Sister City Association Award for her remarkable contributions to cultural exchange. Concert of the Year in 2022 for Don’t Explain an exquisite collaboration with internationally acclaimed pianist Marina Albero. They will be releasing an album on May 20 at the Triple Door.
Dancing, you may ask? It started with a conversation with Robin Harrison about learning the roots of the Lindy Hop and LaTasha Barnes. She considers herself an ongoing student of dance, who studied Swing in Seattle during the pandemic. Tabor quietly takes lessons and wants to grow and be a shaker and a mover. To be able to combine both talents is a dream come true. Her voice is blatantly honest, unfiltered, and reflective of her lifelong story, her fears and courage, and her profound strength and confidence in her art. It's been an extreme honor to be in She’s Got Rhythm – dreams really do come true, April 16-18 at the Broadway Performance Hall.
May 20 at the Triple Door, Tabor will be releasing an album with the critically acclaimed pianist Marina Albero. This is a long-awaited collaboration that will celebrate the legacies of Billie Holiday and Nina Simone. This was a beautiful, sold-out evening. Tabor and Albero are off to a Midwest Tour in June 2026. Rumor has it there might be a return to the Triple Door in 2027. Stay tuned.
My Jazz Story
True to her sobriquet, Jacqueline Tabor, the Seattle Chanteuse, is premier jazz and blues-infused vocalist of the Pacific Northwest who won

emotions contained in the lyrics. The

track, which was nominated for

of his strumming is
simultaneously tremendous and subtle. Cole Schuster is a beautiful guitarist who keeps a very “cool customer” look on his face while
playing monster licks that move your
heart and make your mind think. These men have really created a space for Tabor to broaden her song list with great support and respect.

Tabor’s own words, “I wanted to honor Billie Holiday as a survivor and not a victim. Holiday surpassed so many cruelties and had the
intelligence to find her voice through
songs.”
