Delton Walker
Delton Walker Saxophonist
About Me
Delton Walker is a dynamic jazz
saxophonist, composer, and U.S. Air Force
veteran whose music bridges the personal
and the cosmic. With a sound rooted in
soul, jazz, and funk, his work resonates
with emotional depth, technical skill, and a
global perspective shaped by years of
international performance. Raised in New
York, Delton’s musical journey began early
—starting drums and trumpet at age nine,
later adding piano and guitar under the
guidance of his parents. His time in the U.S.
Air Force opened the world to him, literally
and musically. While stationed in Europe,
he performed throughout Germany,
Portugal, France, and Spain, drawing from
a wide array of cultural influences that
helped craft his unique, expressive tone.
Delton’s artistry was further honed under
the mentorship of respected musicians
including Tony Hayes, Willy DuPont, Jesse
Jones Jr., and renowned jazz saxophonist
Walter Beasley. These experiences
culminated in his 2009 debut album, Back
In Your Arms Again, a smooth and
emotional project that introduced his voice
to a growing audience.
In 2013, he released Back On Track, which
featured the powerful tribute “Flying
Soyuz”—honoring astronaut Ron Garan. In
an extraordinary moment that connects
music to the universe, Garan carried Delton
Walker’s CD aboard the International
Space Station, allowing Delton’s sound to
orbit the Earth and reach beyond. Delton’s
track “Never Too Far Away” pays tribute to
U.S. military service members and is a
staple among his listeners for its heartfelt
message. His music has earned acclaim on
jazz platforms nationwide—most notably
when he was voted #1 Artist of the Month
on Smooth Atlanta Radio in 2008.
Never one to shy away from purpose,
Walker continues to use music to address
deeper social and emotional issues. His
2020 single Wipe Their Tears Away
tackled themes of racial injustice, poverty,
and pandemic grief. A longtime advocate
for healing through music, Delton has also
volunteered with Musicians On Call,
bringing live performances to patients in
healthcare facilities. In 2024, he released
the lush, romantic single We Were Meant
to Be, showcasing his growth as a
composer and performer. It is available
now on all major digital platforms.
