Fabienk

What did I just listen to?! It's Angine de Poitrine, a jazz-rock duo from Quebec that’s gone completely viral because they are so unique and intense. Newly-devoted fans are in chat rooms praising their authentic musicality and debating what they find most appealing – the micro-tonal guitar (which is fretted to play the in-between notes of a 12 note scale); the ratatat drum riffs; or the odd tempos and loops. Or, it could be the clown costumes. The locked-in duo consists of drummer “Klek” and guitarist/bassist “Khn.” Listen to “Fabienk” for example. Angine de Poitrine (in English it means “chest pain/angina of the heart”) might lean more towards punk-funk than the jazz side, but they improvise, and there’s no question that they are as mesmerizing as a video reel of cute kittens.
