About the Album

Renowned arranger and bandleader Mark Masters and his ensemble are celebrating the music of Sam Rivers with an album that captures both the beauty and creativity of Rivers’ compositions. All six tracks that Rivers recorded on his debut album Fushia Swing Song are brilliantly rearranged for Masters’ big band, including “Downstairs Blues Upstairs.” The track features a soaring solo from the album’s featured guest, legendary saxophonist Billy Harper, as well as a dynamic solo from trumpeter Mike Cottone.

Tracks

Fuchsia Swing Song; Cycl8ic Episode; Helix; Parts Of Speech; Point Of Many Returns; Beatrice; Downstairs Blues Upstairs; Calls Of The Wild; Paean; Ellipsis; Luminous Monolith.
