About the Album
A Name I Knew
How does time sound as it dissolves, as forgetting lays waste to what was once certain? A Name I Knew moves through this landscape, centering on Alzheimer’s: from jazz to pop/rock, from structure to the freedom of free improvisation.
Each composition is a fragment of memory that fades and transforms—moments of lucidity, notes suspended in the tragedy of what will no longer be remembered, and the care of those who remain by our side when names and faces disappear. Between hallucinations, contradictions, and shifting states of mind, the music searches for what endures: the lingering taste of the familiar, the vibration of lived experience, the tenderness that remains even when everything else is lost.
In the chaos of improvisation, in the embrace of what is known yet becomes distant, a musical narrative emerges that celebrates what sustains us: memory that persists, even if fragmented; the echo of love, of presence, of what could have been—and still is.
